Yields at Ch. d’Yquem were down around 40% in 2018. The vintage was comparable to ’16; hot and dry conditions produced intense aromas of tropical fruit, mango and passion fruit. The wine is rich and honeyed, with floral notes of honeysuckle on the nose. The palate, medium- to full-bodied, begins with lemon candy notes and later shows spice, apricot and lemongrass. This is a very strong offering from the estate; it’s nuanced, complex and fresh, with a depth of flavour that bodes well for longer-term ageing. +.

Of the three 86s, clearly the best today! Today’s sample has an absolutely stunning aromatic profile, closer to Latour than to Cos, but even more seductive, with stunningly pure, fine notes of spices, tobacco, fresh berries, a minimal hint of noble leather and cedarwood; the tannins are firm and full, but rounder than those of the two competitors, the whole signals not only power, but also perfect harmony. I know many magnificent Pichon-Lalande, but none of this particular class. Is now at its peak and fully deserves the 20 points.

12 Bottles of Château Conseillante 2000, Pomerol
La Conseillante made an excellent wine in 2001, another great one in 2005, and the estate hit home runs in both 2008 and, above all, in 2009. In fact, the latter vintage may well end up being the modern-day reference point for La Conseillante. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to be said for this 2000. An elegant, gentle style that is never a blockbuster, the 2000 La Conseillante has a deep ruby/plum/purple color and an unbelievably expressive nose of sweet kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, incense, toast, and licorice. Full-bodied yet ethereal in the sense that it seems to combine power along with eloquence and delicacy, this is a beautifully pure wine that has just hit its plateau of full maturity, although ideally I think it would benefit strongly from another 4-5 years of bottle age and drink well for two to three decades. Drink 2014-2044.

The Story of Christmas has been granted an entry for 2 players entries which include hospitality before and after at this exclusive venue with up to eight off-court guests able to join the fun.
The successful bidder can choose to bring a friend or family member to play with Tim and a celebrity, or be joined by two people and make up a four with Tim.
Over the last few years celebrities who have played include Andy and Jamie Murray, Hugh Grant, Emma Raducanu, Andrew Strauss, Jack Draper, Jamie Dornan, Katie Boulter, Bear Grylls and many more!
