A six bottle case of Chateau d’Yquem
Tasted at the château, the 2005 Chateau d’Yquem delivers a similar performance as last year. Lucid in colour, the bouquet is detailed with very pure honey, vanilla and almond scents, still a little new oak to be fully assimilated but demonstrating superb focus. The palate is virtually identical to last year’s bottle: exquisite balance and perfectly judged acidity, but perhaps just gaining a little richness and viscosity over the last 12 months. There is an appealing completeness to this Yquem and whilst I would not place it amongst the likes of 2001 or 2009, it comfortably sits just behind. Drink 2020-2050.

Over 700 years old, The Mercers’ Company is the premier Livery Company of the City of London. Their most famous member was Richard Whittington, forever immortalised as Dick Whittington. Other notable members include Sir Winston Churchill and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. On your tour by the Company Archivist you will explore the present Hall’s extensive collection of stained glass, sculpture, tapestry and paintings from the 16th century onwards, not readily accessible to the public, as well as the plate safe to see the 15th century Whittington spoons and richly decorated Leigh Cup. Afterwards enjoy lunch in the Small Court Room in these splendid historic settings. To be taken Monday to Friday, date by arrangement, valid for one year.

Beautiful Ski Chalet in Sainte Foy for February Half Term* 2022
A week’s stay in a beautiful ski chalet in Sainte Foy Tarentaise, France to be enjoyed in the extremely popular week of February Half Term 2022 (Saturday 12 February – Saturday 19 February*). Demand for chalets over half term this coming season is unprecedentedly high given that skiing was not possible last season due to the pandemic. (However, should the successful bidder prefer another week during the 2022/23 season this too would be possible, subject to availability).
The chalet is historically important and located at 1580m. There are five bedrooms (four doubles and one twin), four bathrooms (a house bathroom and three en-suite). Guests can ski in and ski out – the piste is 25m away. The resort is wonderfully compact, family-friendly and offers a great choice of restaurants and bars. The area is one of the very best off-piste locations in the world – and is a short drive to Val d’Isère, Les Arcs, Tignes and La Rosière.
