The Story of Christmas Fundraising Luncheon

On Tuesday 22nd November 2011, The Story of Christmas's President Dame Judi Dench held a fundraising luncheon for the benefit of the Appeal and invited a small number of major donors. The Event's aim was to attract large donations to the Appeal and to that end it succeeded in raising over £40,000. The celebrated actor Dan Stevens – a Vice President of the Appeal who recently has been starring in ITV's acclaimed Downton Abbey – was joined by The Story of Christmas's Chairman Derek Penfold, and Artistic Director Marc Corbett-Weaver. Guests included such luminaries of the property industry as David McAlpine, Director of Sir Robert McAlpine, Patsy Byrne, CEO of Bryne Bros., Andrew Hynard, Deputy Chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle UK, Andrew Braddon, Chairman of The Leander Group, Paul Davis, the celebrated architect, Neil Mackilligin, Senior Partner of Allsop LLP, Tony Edgley of Brockton Capital and Adrian Paye, CEO of Paye Stone. The Appeal was extremely grateful to have the support of Moët Hennessy UK. The firm generously hosted and sponsored the luncheon, enabling 100% of monies raised to be available for charitable purposes. Images were taken and a visual recording was created by The Story of Christmas's media partner, The Estates Gazette, to whom the Appeal is also most grateful.

Dame Judi Dench commented: "We are extremely lucky to have the support of Owen Davies, Louise Pilkington and everyone at Moët Hennessy UK who have enabled this very special event to take place. I am delighted that we have been able to produce such a special occasion, which has done so much good for the 2011 Appeal."
