The Children’s Trust
The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury, providing rehabilitation following serious accident or illness both at its national specialist centre in Tadworth and in the community. The charity’s current vehicle is no longer fit for purpose and desperately needs replacing. The Story of Christmas is providing a brand new, especially adapted, vehicle for the charity to take children to and from hospital, as well as on days out and family outings during their rehabilitation.
Project Passage House
Passage House is a 40 bed hostel providing accommodation and support services to vulnerable male rough sleepers. The clients have mixed and varied support needs and diverse histories; however all have one thing in common – they have been sleeping rough on the streets in Westminster. Passage House provides each resident with a key worker who in partnership will agree a support plan that identifies an individual’s needs and sets joint objectives to help residents achieve their goals. The building was converted from a redundant office block in 1999 and is in urgent need of renovation. The Story of Christmas is helping The Passage to bring the building up to modern standards so that the work can continue in a setting fit for purpose.
Place2Be is the UK’s leading mental health charity, providing in-school support to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and their families. The Story of Christmas is helping Place2Be to establish its new Centre of Excellence in London, by supporting the development of a training suite. Here, expert training on children’s mental health will be provided to thousands of counsellors, teachers, and members of the wider children’s workforce each year.
Transform Housing & Support
The Story of Christmas is working with Transform & Housing and Support by renovating and refurbishing two houses in Surrey to create supported accommodation for six young people who have been homeless or are at severe risk of homelessness as a result of family breakdown.
West London Day Centre
West London Day Centre is a walk-in-centre in Marylebone for rough-sleepers – providing breakfast, showers, clothing, laundry, healthcare, support and education services. The showers at the centre provide an essential service to around 40 homeless people each day and are urgent need of refurbishment, which The Story of Christmas is supporting.
